Obituary of Joseph Hysack

LITTLE FALLS Joseph Hysack, 79 of 6 Willow Street, Little Falls passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion where he had been a resident since May of 2009. He was born on September 4, 1930 in Little Falls the son of the late George and Helen (Yaniec) Hysack. He was educated in Little Falls schools. Mr. Hysack was a veteran of the US Army entering the service on March 6, 1951 in Syracuse. He served with the with the 5657 97th General Hospital in occupied Germany. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on February 11, 1953 at Camp Kilmer, NJ. On July 31, 1954 he was united in marriage to his wife of 55 years the former Alice C. Gardinier at St. Marys Church, Little Falls. He was a member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612 VFW, Little Falls, the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls and the Polish Community Home, Little Falls. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Hysack was employed for 30 years by the former Cherry Burrell Corp, Little Falls retiring in 1992. Prior to that he was employed for many years as a mechanic for the former Neil Shaffers Garage and Mike Hurleys Garage, both of Little Falls. He is survived by his wife Alice, his son Thomas Hysack and his wife Deb, Omaha, Neb., his 2 daughters Mary Harris and her husband Andrew and Michelle Billings and her husband Fred both of Little Falls, 5 grandchildren A. Richard Harris, Allison Harris, Hannah Hysack, Christopher Hysack and Katie Billings and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers Stanley, William, John, Frank and George Hysack and 2 sisters Helen Perry and Stella Rahm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Thomas Lawless, Pastor of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 3-6 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning. Members of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls will call in a body at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 5:30 pm.
