Obituary of Joseph W. Vogt,

LITTLE FALLS Joseph W. Vogt, 69 of 28 Petrie Street, Little Falls passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown with his loving family at his side. He was born on January 18,1939 in Little Falls the son of the late Otto Carl and Irene (Giachetti) Vogt. He was educated in local schools and later in his life received his GED. He was united in marriage to his wife of nearly 40 years the former Faith S. Snyder on February 8, 1969 in North Lawrence, NY. Mr. Vogt was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps. Following his discharge he was actively involved as a member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls where he held several offices. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. Mr. Vogt in his younger years was a professional boxer in the Schenectady area. Following his return to Little Falls he was employed in various local businesses and at one time by the City of Little Falls Department of Public Works. Mr. Vogt enjoyed history, politics and the great outdoors, especially Brantingham Lake. However he had most loved his family devoting his life to their care and happiness. He will be sorely missed by all. He is survived by his wife Faith, his son Leo J. Vogt and his companion Monica Friesner, Bloomfield, NY, 2 daughters Stephanie M. Dyer, Little Falls and Wendy K. Kanner and her husband Michael, Bedminster, NJ, 3 brothers Edwin J. Vogt and his wife Joan, Little Falls, Edward Vogt, Middleville and Robert Bowie, Utica, 4 sisters Louise Conkling and Violet Morgan both of Utica, Marion Bocon, Conn. and Agnes Miller, Johnson City, NY, a sister in law Elizabeth Vogt, Little Falls, 7 grandchildren Patrick and Alexis Dyer, Samantha Kanner, Kyler and Mackenzie Friesner and Austin and Hunter Vogt, his close friends George Clingen and James Reardon both of Little Falls, John Lamanna, Dolgeville and Larry Lamanna, Herkimer and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David B. Vogt in 2002 and an infant brother John Vogt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer where full Military Honors will be accorded by the US Marine Corps. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Tuesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Vogt be considered to the Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. Members of the American Legion Post # 31 will call in a body at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30 pm to conduct their services.
