Obituary of William A. Knoblauch
LITTLE FALLS - William A. Knoblauch, 88 formerly of 206 West Street, Ilion and since August of 2001 a resident of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion passed away Saturday, September 17, 2005 at that residence.
He was born on August 24, 1917 in the Town of Manheim the son of the late Phillip and Sophie (Muller) Knoblauch. He was educated in Manheim Rural Schools.
He was united in marriage to the former Barbara J. Relyea on June 19, 1965 in the Town of Minden.
Mr. Knoblauch was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Air Corps. Serving with the 5th Ferry Group of the 555th Army Air Corps Base Unit. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on February 16, 1946.
He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Little Falls Masonic Lodge # 181 F&AM. An avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with his friends at the Ilion Marina.
Mr. Knoblauch for many years operated a dairy farm on the Burrell Road in the Town of Manheim. After the family farm burned in 1967 he was employed by the former UNIVAC Corp, and the former ICL Corp., both of Utica all the while operating his on general contracting and electrical business. After leaving those companies he continued to operate Bill's Home Improvements until his retirement in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Barbara J. Knoblauch, Ilion, 3 sons William Knoblauch and his wife Linda, Boynton Beach, FL, Robert A. Knoblauch and his wife Rebecca, Herkimer and Donald Eckler and his wife Lora, Ilion, 5 daughters Denise Cool and her husband Royce, Stratford, Darlene Case and her husband Carl, Mohawk, Vivian Greenfield and her husband Paul, Ilion, Deanna Rose and her husband Paul, Ilion and Lisa Knoblauch and Jason Rotondi, Ilion, a sister Caroline Barragan, Ilion, 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers Jacob, who died in 1918, Edward, who died in 1993 and John, who died in 1999.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Knoblauch be considered to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, 99 Sixth Ave., Ilion, NY 13357. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
