Obituary of Stephen J. Kravec

LITTLE FALLS - Stephen J. Kravec, 53 of 6179 State Route 5, Little Falls passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Albany Medical Center, Albany where he had been a patient since March 25, 2005 following a motor vehicle accident. He was born on July 30, 1951 in Ilion the son of the late Stephen and Anne (Bachorik) Kravec. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1969. He was united in marriage to the former Jean Rose on December 20, 1975 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mr. Kravec was a veteran of the US Navy. Entering the service on December 30, 1969. He served at the Naval Communication Station at Norfolk, VA as a Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1973. He also served with the Naval and Army Reserves and well as with the Army National Guard He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls where he presently served as a member of the church council and a assisting minister, he was ordained as a deacon of the church on May 20, 2001. He was also presently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Martin Luther Home, Clinton and was a member and past treasurer of the Christian Community Club, Little Falls and the Little Falls American Legion Post # 31 and served as the Chaplin for the Little Falls Fire Department. Mr. Kravec was employed for 22 years and a firefighter for the City of Little Falls Fire Department. Retiring on March 21, 2003. He was presently employed as a Corrections Officer for the Herkimer County Sheriff's Department serving in that capacity for over the past 20 years. He is survived by his wife Jean, 2 daughters Renee Miller and her friend Ray Wiegand, Schuyler and Michelle Howard and her husband Rob, Masonville, NY, 4 grandchildren Desteny Miller, Laura Miller, Britany Wiegand and Jamie Wiegand. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Sunday, April 10, 2005 from 4-6 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Kravec be considered to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. Members of the Little Falls Fire Dept. will call in a body at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 5:00 pm. Members of the Herkimer Co. Sheriffs Dept. will call in a body a that the funeral home on Sunday evening at 5:30 pm.
