Obituary of Lamar A. (Mark) Leon

HERKIMER - Lamar A. (Mark) Leon, 57 of 300 Lansing Street, Herkimer passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1952 in Rome the son of Dayton B. and Florence (Jones) Leon, Sr. of Little Falls. He was educated in Little Falls schools. He was united to his wife of 26 years the former Mary Ann Leonardo on September 3, 1983 in Syracuse. Mr. Leon was a veteran of the US Navy entering the service in 1970. Following his discharge he settled in Syracuse. Then in 1997 he relocated to St. Louis, MO where he remained until February of 2009 when he returned to Herkimer. An avid fisherman who especially enjoyed trout and salmon fishing. His true passion was as a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team. While in St. Louis he was also involved in several groups for under privileged children.. Mr. Leon began his 16 year career with the Farmers Home Administration (FHA) in Syracuse and later transferred to St. Louis and eventually became a manager for Ambassador Valet Parking before returning to the Mohawk Valley. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his parents Dayton B. and Florence Leon, Sr., Little Falls, 3 brothers Dayton B. Leon, Jr. and his wife Candice, Herkimer, Todd Leon and Joseph Leon, both of Little Falls, 6 sisters Cynthia Uhlig and her husband Ron, Herkimer, Kim Mahoney and her husband Richard, Herkimer, Tonya Leon and her companion Steve Slaboc, Stratford, Deborah Jones and her husband Tom, Little Falls, Analisa Judge and her husband Jeff, Little Falls and Holly Dreuseke, Little Falls, several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and his beloved dog Sheena. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Marks life on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 1-4 pm at the Polish Community Home, 92 W. Main St., Little Falls. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mark be considered to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Avenue St., Louis, MO 63110. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
