Obituary of <Lawrence M Tanner

LITTLE FALLS - Lawrence M. Tanner, 75 of Fincks Basin Road, Little Falls passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica where he had been a patient since August 3, 2007. He was born on November 19, 1931 in Utica the son of the late Myron A. and Margaret (Kelly) Tanner. He was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School class of 1949 and attended Ithaca College. He was united in marriage to his wife of 39 years the former Mary C. Boepple on December 27, 1958 in Richfield Springs. She predeceased him on October 25, 1997. On February 14, 2004 he was untied in marriage to the former Mary Lou Millard in Schuyler. Mr. Tanner was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid bowler playing in various leagues through out the valley. Mr. Tanner for many years was employed as an auto mechanic and at owned time owned and operated the former Sinclair service station in Little Falls and later was a mechanic for the former Dean Phipps Auto Store, Little Falls. He later employed for over 30 years as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local # 120, Utica. He was currently employed by the Little Falls Evening Times as a rural motor route delivery person. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his son Tracy A. Tanner, Pittsfield, MA, his daughter Debra Harrington, Canastota, NY, his brother Francis Tanner and his wife Adeline, Richfield Springs, 3 grandchildren Michael E. Stevens, US Navy and his wife Allie, Japan, Nicholas R. Harrington, Canastota and Jennifer M. Tanner, Pittsfield, MA. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Tanner in 1930. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Sister Laurita Kelly, OSF, Syracuse officiating. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, August 27, 2007 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Tanner be considered to the American Lung Association of New York State, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
