Obituary of Leo P. Singer

LITTLE FALLS - Leo P. Singer, 84 of 3083 State Route 5S (Indian Castle), Little Falls passed away, Saturday, January 20, 2007 at his residence. He was born on April 20, 1922 in Little Falls the son of the late Fred and Mabel (Gray) Singer. He was educated in the town of Danube Rural Schools and has been life long resident of Indian Castle. He was united in marriage to his wife of 52 years the former Emma Moshier on August 3, 1946 at the United Methodist Church, Little Falls. Mrs. Singer predeceased him on April 6, 1998. Mr. Singer was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army in Northern France. He entered the service on October 12, 1942 in Utica and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on February 16, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls. He was also a life member of the Mohawk Valley Post # 3275, VFW, Ft. Plain and the Indian Castle Church Restoration Society. Mr. Singer along with his wife were the grounds keepers for the Indian Castle Church for over 30 years. He was employed for over 30 years by the Salada Foods Corp, Little Falls. He began his career in the tea production area at the Little Falls plant and retired as the supervisor of the company warehouse on State Route 5, Little Falls. He is survived by his nephew Gary L. Moshier and his wife Sonya, East Syracuse and his niece Sharlene Moshier, Herkimer and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 4 brothers Walter, Fred, Robert and Richard Singer and by a sister Margaret Singer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Jon A. Noble, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in the Indian Castle Cemetery, town of Danube. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 form 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Singer be considered to Indian Castle Church Restoration Society, c/o Mrs. Linda Weldon, 412 Dillenback Road, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
