Obituary of Loren H. Daley

LITTLE FALLS - Loren H. Daley, 86 formerly Dolgeville and Little Falls passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the New York State Veterans Home, Batavia where he had been a resident since June of 2009. He was born on September 23, 1923 in Stratford the son of the late George and Ora (Smith) Daley. He attended Stratford High School. Mr. Daley was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. He entered the service on February 17, 1942 at Ft. Dix, NJ. He served with Company A, 2nd Battalion in Central Europe when he was captured and held as a Prisoner of War in Germany for 16 months. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on September 30, 1945 at Camp Sibert, Alabama. For several years Mr. Daley was employed for the Adirondack Bat Co., Dolgeville. He later owned and operated his own trucking company Daley Freightways, Dolgeville for 40 years. Retiring in 1987. He is survived by his dear friend Harriet Perkins, Dolgeville 3 sons Steven Daley, Batavia, Gary Daley and Paul Daley both of Salisbury, 5 daughters Ellen Lewandowski, Dolgeville, Janet Daley, Azle, TX, Betty Harwick, Azle, TX, Alice Comstock, Canajoharie, Eileen Kapler, Ilion, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Loren John Daley, a daughter Carol Barrett, 3 brothers Morris, Leonard and Paul Daley and 5 sisters Ida Bucklin, Alice Burris, Malvina Johnson, Alberta Forster and Ella Jorrey. Graveside memorial services will be held at Stratford Cemetery, Town of Salisbury in the spring of 2010 where full military honors will be accorded. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
