Obituary of Mark E. Snowman

STRATFORD Mark E. Snowman, 60 Highway Superintendent of the Town of Stratford passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his residence at 803 Piseco Rd., Stratford. He was born on July 11, 1952 in Lincoln, Maine the son of the late Rev. Preston W. and Leona (Cram) Snowman. He was educated in both Maine and New York. He was united in marriage to his wife of 35 years the former Judith A. Christman on August 20, 1977 a Pine Grove Campground, Stratford. Mr. Snowman was a member of the Fulton County Highway Superintendent Assn. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially riding his Harley and kayaking. A "Master of All Trades" Mark was currently serving as the Town of Stratford Highway Superintendent a job he truly enjoyed and took great pride in being able to help the people of Stratford. He was also an expert excavator and heavy equipment operator and enjoyed tending to his beef farm the "Wool To Be" Farm. Prior he was the owner and operator of Snowman Logging for 25 years. A loving husband, father and grandfather he was a man of deep faith. The world is a better place since he passed through. He always set forth to accomplish what he started. He is survived by his wife Judith, sons David Eric Snowman and Mark Earl Snowman, Jr., both of Ft. Meyers, FL, his daughter Christine Marie Snowman, Schenectady, his daughter in law Roxanne Cramer-Snowman, brothers David Snowman (Sandra) Maine, and Carl Snowman, Dover, DL, sisters Ruth Mitchell (Phillip), Medway, ME, Jean Mead (Tim), Colonial Heights, VA, Joyce Mancini (Joe) and Janice Sarvis (Toby) both of Alpharetta, GA, grandchildren Christopher Michael Cramer-Snowman, Brendan James Cramer-Snowman and Laikyn Raine Cramer-Snowman and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son J. Christopher Snowman, in March of 2006, his daughter Carrie Lynn Snowman in September of 2008 and by his brother Paul Snowman in September 2005. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel, Curtiss Road, Town of Salisbury with the Rev. Rodney Congdon officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury later in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Curtiss Corners Stone Chapel of Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 10-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Snowman be considered to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 or to the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1415 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
