Obituary of Mary E. Schuyler
LITTLE FALLS - Mary E. Schuyler, 96 formerly of Valley View Courts, Little Falls and for many years a resident of the Residential Healthcare Facility at Little Falls Hospital passed away at the Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
She was born on April 8, 1913 in Layhill, Maryland the daughter of the late Charles N. and Rachel (Oden) Beall. She was a graduate of Sherwood High School, Sand Hill, MD.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 40 years George W. Schuyler on October 20, 1936 in Waterbury, MD. Mr. Schuyler predeceased her on September 28, 1976.
Mrs. Schuyler came to Little Falls following her marriage and resided with her husband and raised her family while Mr. Schuyler was the caretaker for the former Burrell Estate in Little Falls. Prior to her marriage she had been a governess in Riverdale, MD.
She was a 70 year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls, a 70 year member of the Auskerada Maquaes - Rock City Chapter # 204 OES, Dolgeville, a former member of the church Second Mile Class, the Manheim Home Bureau, and at onetime a Girl Scout Leader and served as a plane spotter during WWII.
She is survived by her daughters Gertrude Ortlieb, Dolgeville and Georgianna Fernandes and her husband Anthony, Breckenridge, CO, 7 grandchildren Lamoine Youker and her husband Marshall, Kim Cicio, Dawn Ortlieb and Kathy Fuller, A. Scott Fernandes and his wife Heidi, Stephen Fernandes and Aaron Fernandes, 8 great grandchildren James Youker, Ellen Coghill and her husband Andrew, Megan Youker, Alex and Ashley Cicio, Skyler, Kiley and Renner Fernandes, a great great granddaughter Haleigh Coghill, a sister in law Betty Beall, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 brothers C. Smith Beall, Carl W. Beall, William Beall, Douglas Beall and Harry Beall and by 3 sisters Frances Gregg, Margaret Browning and Ruth Munnis, and by her son in law Richard C. Ortlieb on October 20, 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Jon A. Noble, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls and her daughter Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, June 22, 2009 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services morning.
