Obituary of Matthew Bialock

LITTLE FALLS Matthew Bialock, 87 of E. Monroe Street, Little Falls passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at his residence with his beloved wife and daughters at his side. He was born on August 22, 1923 in the Town of Danube the son of the late Andrew and Felicia (Bartnick) Bialock. He was educated in Little Falls schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 63 years the former Margaret Miller on April 24, 1948 at St. Pauls Universalist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Bialock was a veteran of World War II enlisting in the United States Marine Corp on August 25, 1942. He served in the Asiatic Theatre with the 4th Marine Division 3/k/25. Saw action on Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Combat wounded February 27, 1945 on Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 5, 1945. He was a very active member and volunteer of St. Pauls Universalist Church, Little Falls and could always be relied upon to take care of any task that needed to be done. He was also a charter and life member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula VFW Post # 4612, Little Falls, NY, life member of the General Herkimer Chapter # 130 Military Order of the Purple Heart, life member of the 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps League, Ilion, NY, Little Falls American Legion Post # 31 and a member and Past President of the Rock City Chapter AARP, Little Falls where he served as the 55 Alive driving instructor for several years. From 1945 1962 he was employed by the former Cherry Burrell Corp, Little Falls. He retired as a machinist from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Utica in 1987 after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughters Joan (Ryan) Piper, Rosamond, CA; Patricia (Harvey) Gibson, Waterford, NY; Ann (Robert) Parmely, Babylon, NY. Three granddaughters, Stacey Piper, Rosamond, CA; Laura Piper, San Diego, CA; Samantha Parmely, Babylon, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Stephanie Dingman in 1995, Helen Jurewicz in 2010 and a brother Chester Bialock in 1994. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Timothy Hume Brehendt, Cold Brook, NY officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls where Military Honors will be accorded by the US Marine Corps. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.
