Obituary of Helen M. Mellor

LITTLE FALLS - Helen M. Mellor, 92 of 5 Dale Place, Little Falls passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on October 3, 1913 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Matlilda (Horan) Mellor. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1931 and a graduate of Potsdam State Teachers College, class of 1935. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls and was in charge of operating the Church Thrift Shop for many years and was active in planning meals for the elderly. She also served on the board of directors for the WCA, Little Falls and the Little Falls Hospital Guild. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the NYS Teachers Association. Miss. Mellor was employed at onetime in the accounting department of the former Chris Hansen Laboratories, Little Falls for 17 years. She then taught elementary vocal music at West Canada and Herkimer Elementary Schools for 21 years. Retiring in June of 1977. She is survived by her cousins, Lillian Maloney, Yonkers, NY formerly of Little Falls, Byron Lally and Nancy Holland, both of Toronto, Canada, Elizabeth Newman, Santa Anna, Calif. and Albert Trask, Little Falls. She was predeceased by her cousin Eleanor Trask, who died on September 23, 2004. In keeping with Miss. Mellor's wishes graveside services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector officiating. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Miss. Mellor be considered to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
