Obituary of Michael John DiNardi
LITTLE FALLS - Michael John DiNardi, 89, of 760 E. Monroe St., Apt. # A5, Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, September 27 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 5, 1921 in Inglewood, CA, the son of the late Louis and Dorothea (Capraro) DiNardi. His family moved to the Utica area when he was six years old. He received his education in California, Utica and Detroit.
Mr. DiNardi joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. when he was seventeen. On August 11, 1942, he enlisted in the U S Navy serving four years in the North Atlantic. He was honorably discharged as an Aviation Machinist Mate (Second Class) on February 23, 1946. Mr. DiNardi strongly identified with his military service and was a proud veteran.
He was united in marriage to his beloved wife of 63 years, the former Eva Katerina Otrupcak on April 23, 1948, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls, by the Rev. George Billy.
Mr. DiNardi was employed as a mechanic for various companies in the Mohawk Valley. He retired from the Life Savers Corp., Canajoharie, in 1981.
Michael was a lifelong learner who had many interests. An avid fisherman, Michael enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks for over forty years where he and Eva formed many lasting friendships with other campers. He was a skilled woodworker, guitar player, and excellent cook. Mr. DiNardi valued his family above all else.
He is survived by his wife Eva and their daughters Anne DiNardi and husband Tim Schuster, Kingston, NY, Susan Rush and husband Daniel, Syracuse and Eva Kay Allegretti, Little Falls. He also leaves several cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Rocco DiNardi.
Funeral and interment will take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 1:00 pm.
