Obituary of Michael Sube
HERKIMER Michael Sube, 75, of Herkimer passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home. He was born in Manistique, Michigan, the son of the late Walter and Rosemary (Rubick) Sube. He graduated from St. Marys Academy, Little Falls in 1954, and in 1958 received a BS in Pharmacy from the Albany College of Pharmacy. He was united in marriage to his wife of 52 years, the former Christobel Trask, at St. Marys Church in Little Falls. Mrs. Sube predeceased him in 2010.
Mr. Sube began his career with John Juris of the former Clemons Drug Store, Little Falls and later with Walter France of the former Daleys Drug Store, Little Falls. In 1959, Mr. and Mrs. Sube relocated to Gouverneur, NY where he was employed by Kinney Drugs for 42 years until retiring in 2001. After retirement, he and his wife lived in Fredericksburg VA, Little Falls, and eventually returned to Herkimer in 2003.
He was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church (Little Falls), St. James Parish Church (Gouverneur), the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce, St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency, and the New York State Pharmacy Association.
He is survived by son Jeff Sube, Baltimore, MD and daughter Carrie Gabriel, Denver, CO. He is also survived by sisters Christine Noel, Brattleboro, VT and Becky Huefner, Monroe, ME, a brother De Sube, Virginia Beach, VA, sister-in-law Naomi Gross, Herkimer, nieces, nephews, and Laura Hailston and Ron Schoonmaker, Ilion.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, with the Rev. Thomas J. Vail officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
The family will be present at the church to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the mass.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Sube be considered to Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, 61 West St., Ilion, NY 13357. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
