Obituary of Mildred P. Begley

LITTLE FALLS Mildred P. Begley, 90 formerly of 550 E. John St. (Rockton Plaza), Little Falls and for the past four years a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer passed away Friday, September 19, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare Center, Cooperstown. She was born on September 23, 1917 in Little Falls the daughter of the late John and Anna (Caltik) Paracka. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. Mrs. Begley was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls where her father was one of the co founders of that church. She was also a long time member of the Auskerada Maquaes - Rock City Chapter # 204 OES, as well a former member of the Little Falls Hospital Guild, Little Falls WCA, a Brownie Troop leader and a Literacy Volunteer at the Little Falls Library. She enjoyed sewing, needle point and spending summers at her sister Bess Wurzbachers camp on Canada Lake for many years. Mrs. Begley was employed at onetime by the former Smallens Dress Shop, Sodergrens Jewelry Store, Rosies Florist all of Little Falls and the Little Falls National Bank. She was last employed for 10 years by the Salada Foods Corp, Little Falls. She is survived by a son Jerry Begley and his wife Norma, Westfield, MA, a daughter Betsy Mabbett and her husband Walter, Ft. Plain, a son in law Eugene Sadlon, New Paltz, a brother William Paracka and his wife Virginia, Danville, Calif., a sister Ann Long, Little Falls, 7 grandchildren Michael J. Scanlon, Jr., Herkimer, Cory W. Scanlon and his wife Katie, Ilion, Jason Mabbett and his wife Erin, Palatine Bridge, Beth Begley, Denton, TX, Bryan Begley, Westfield, MA, Brent Begley and his wife Kelly, Leesburg, VA and Barbara Matus and her husband James, New Paltz, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Marianne Sadlon on May 10, 1996, and by 4 brothers John, Milan, Dusan and Paul Paracka and by a sister Bess Wurzbacher. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls with the Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Begley be considered to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
