Obituary of M/Sgt. Clifford L. Carter, USAF (Retired)

LITTLE FALLS - M/Sgt. Clifford L. Carter, USAF (Retired), 77 formerly of 1 Valley Brook Drive, Little Falls and since March of 2000 a resident of the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford passed away Sunday, January 9, 2005 at that residence. He was born on April 8, 1927 in St. Johnsville, NY the son of the late Albert and Beatrice (Hill) Carter. He was educated in St. Johnsville Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Carol A. Moshier on August 19, 1966 in Reno, NV. Mr. Carter was a 29 year veteran of the armed forces. Entering the service in 1945 he served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1948 he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars'. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant on March 31, 1974 at McClellan AFB, California. Following his discharge from the Air Force Mr. Carter was employed by the Beech - Nut Foods Corp., Canajoharie for 18 years until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife Carol, Little Falls his son Wayne R. Carter, Utica, his daughter Cynthia A. Duesler, Little Falls, his sister Gloria LaVenture, Coco Beach, FL, 3 grandchildren Kirsten Loucks, Alyssa and Kaitlyn Duesler all of Little Falls and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Scott Allen Carter, who died on April 20, 1972 and by a brother Albert Carter, who died on December 7, 1979 and by a sister Beatrice Carter, who died on March 25, 1968. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer-Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer where Full Military Honors will be accorded. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Carter be considered to The Guild of the NYS Veterans Home, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
