Obituary of Adelaide L. Munk

LITTLE FALLS Adelaide L. Munk, 100 formerly of 26 High Street, Little Falls and more recent of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at that residence. She was born on September 9, 1907 in Footville, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Albert and Julia (Eidahl) Grenawalt. She was educated in Rockton, Illinois schools. She later returned to Beloit, Wisconsin and in 1949 relocated to Little Falls where she has since resided. She was united in marriage to her husband of 48 years Edward B. Munk on May 28, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls. Mr. Munk predeceased her on November 14, 1997. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls and the Second Mile class of that church. Mrs. Munk was employed at onetime by the former Eastern Footwear Co., Dolgeville, and worked as a pastry cook for the former Prospect Hotel, Herkimer. She was last employed as a machine operator for the former Allegro Shoe Corp., Little Falls, retiring in 1969. This past September a party was held in honor of Mrs. Munks100th birthday, in attendance were her nephews Scott Olson, Little Falls, George (Kip) LaQue, Little Falls, Lorin Kreuger and his wife Stacy, Florida, Dick Kreuger and his wife Judy, Washington DC, her nieces Julie Colvard, Plattsburg, NY, Jill Cook, Waynesboro, PA, her great niece Kristin Carnwright and close friend Cindy Rivera Olson, Little Falls as well as many other friends and neighbors. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews in Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Texas. She was predeceased by 5 sisters Delores Schmale, Beulah Taylor, Hazel Krueger, Florence Walden and Helen Olsen. A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 10:00 am from the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls. Graveside memorial services will be held in the spring at the Luther Valley Cemetery, Ofordville, WI where she and her husband Edward will be laid to rest. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Munk be considered to the Central Association for the Blind, 507 Kent St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
