Obituary of Stanley D. Nichols, Sr.

LITTLE FALLS - Stanley D. Nichols, Sr., 75 of 492 W. Main Street, Little Falls passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica where he had been a patient since November 13, 2002. He was born on January 27, 1927 in the Town of Salisbury the son of the late Dwight and Catherine (Cardle) Nichols and was educated in Stratford Schools. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II entering the service on July 10, 1945 in Albany serving as a medical technician at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. He was honorably discharged as a Technician 5th Grade on December 1, 1946 at Ft. Bliss, TX. On January 31, 1948 Stanley was united in marriage to Edna Loucks in the United Methodist Church Parsonage, Dolgeville a blessed and loving union of 53 years until her passing on February 11, 2001. Mr. Nichols was employed in the Maintenance Department for the Mohawk Valley Paper Corp., Little Falls for 38 years. He attended the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. An avid hunter and fisherman and was a friend to all. Surviving him are 2 sons; Richard S. Nichols and his wife Shelia, Ft. Plain and Stanley D. Nichols, Jr. and Colleen Lynch, Little Falls, a brother; Norman Nichols, Little Falls, 5 grandchildren; Penny Sorel, Richard A. Nichols, Robert N. Nichols, Tanya Towne and Corie J. Nichols, 7 great grandchildren Ashley, Courtina, Dalton, Jacob and Dusty Nichols, Ricky Sorel and Derrell Diffin and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Edna he was preceded in death by 2 sons Roger A. Nichols, who died in 1955 and Robert N. Nichols, who died on March 22, 2001, a sister Edna Perkins, who died in 1971 and a granddaughter Catherine Mae Nichols, who died in 1975. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with Mr. Ronald Perkins of Michigan and nephew of Mr. Nichols officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Nichols be considered to the Charity of One's Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home for this purpose.
