Obituary of Norman H. Bauder

SALISBURY Norman H. Bauder, 80 of 1039 Military Road, Little Falls (Town of Salisbury) and more recent a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on August 6, 1927 in Utica the son of the late Harold and Irene (Darling) Bauder. He was educated in Salisbury Rural and Dolgeville Central Schools. Mr. Bauder was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy. He entered the service on September 15, 1945 in Albany, NY. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1946 as a Fireman First Class at Lido Beach, LI, NY. He was united in marriage to his wife of 57 years the former Margaret E. Canner on August 26, 1950 at St. Marys Church, Little Falls. He was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church, as well as a former member and past Chief of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Bauder took over the operation of the Hollow View Dairy Farm, Salisbury from his father, where he was well known in the area for many years for his sweet corn. He continued to operate the farm until 1974. In 1977 he began his employment with the Remington Arms Co., Ilion until his retirement in 1990. He also, was employed part time over the years as an Electrician in the valley. He is survived by his wife Margaret, 2 sons Mark D. Bauder and Gloria Snyder, Norway and Bruce N. Bauder and his fiancé©e Linda Smith, Salisbury, 2 daughters Linda Tyoe and her husband Mark, Salisbury and Penelope Van Gurp, Ft. Plain, 2 brothers Timothy Bauder and his wife Noor, Ilion and James Bauder and his wife Paula, Cape Cod, MA, a sister Georgia Kelley, Wynantskill, NY, 7 grandchildren Mark Bauder, Jr. and his wife Yana, Verona, NJ, Melissa Moreau, Dolgeville, F/5 Jordan Bauder and his wife Ann, US Army, Ft. Drum, NY, Krista Van Gurp, Ft. Plain and Jeremy Van Gurp, US Navy, Casey Tyoe and Brandon Tyoe, both of Salisbury, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Bauder be considered to the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept., P.O. Box 65, Salisbury Center, NY 13454.
