Obituary of Patricia M. Rice

MANHEIM Patricia M. Rice, 87, of State Route 167, Town of Manheim passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She was born on February 28, 1926 in Little Falls, NY the daughter of Albert and Carrie (Werner) Silvernail. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1945. She was united in marriage to her husband of 63 years, Charles W. Rice, on June 26, 1948 at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Rice predeceased her on March 7, 2012. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls, where she was active in the church choir and served as president of the WELCA of the church. She was also a member of the Manheim Home Makers, and was active in her community, serving as a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood drives and at the polls at election time. For almost 30 years she and Charles enjoyed spending the winter at their Florida home with their son Jon and with their friends in Ft. Pierce, Florida. She is survived by her sons James C. Rice and daughter in law Helen, Honeoye Falls, NY and Jon R. Rice, Little Falls and Ft. Pierce, Fl, her sister Jean Neary, Herkimer, 3 grandchildren Mary Beth King (John), Michael Rice and Jonathan Rice and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Mary Ellen Rice in 1954. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 am from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Joseph Famulare officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services on Monday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Rice be considered to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
