Peter B. Markell DOLGEVILLE - Peter B. Markell, 64 of 6247 State Route 167, Dolgeville passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at his residence. He was born on April 14, 1939 in Little Falls the son of William Markell and Barbara (Beekman) Kany, both of Dolgeville. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1958. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Markell was a member of the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge # 796, F&AM, Elks Lodge # 42 B.P.O.E, Little Falls, the Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Dept., Sprite Club and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. He was employed as a oil deliveryman for the former Silvernail Oil Co., Dolgeville for 19 years. He was later employed in that same capacity for the Snyder Fuel Co., Newport. He was last employed by the Town of Manheim Highway Department retiring after 5 years of service to the town. He is survived by his father William Markell, Dolgeville, his mother Barbara Kany, Dolgeville, his wife Evelyn M. Markell, his son Peter W. Markell and his wife Kelly, Stanfield, NC, his daughter Nancy Calleja and her husband Joseph, Cooperstown, 3 grandchildren Ryan Markell, Stacy Gallimore and Sharon Markell. He was predeceased by his son Lee J. Markell, who died on August 29, 2000. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2003 at 1:30 pm from the United Methodist Church, 21 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville with the Rev. Joseph Kim officiating. There will be no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Markell be considered to Hospice Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 or to the American Cancer Society 430 Court St., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
