Obituary of Rachel S. Provorse

DOLGEVILLE-LITTLE FALLS - Rachel S. Provorse, 88 formerly of 7 Spencer Street, Dolgeville and for many years of Valley View Courts, Little Falls and more recent of the Mohawk Homestead, Mohawk passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on May 22, 1916 in Dolgeville the daughter of the late Peter and Martha (Heier) Sarpen. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1935. She was untied in marriage to E. Charles Provorse on October 5, 1940 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dolgeville. She was a life member of the United Lutheran Presbyterian Parish, Dolgeville which she was active in for many years. She was an avid gardener and lover of animals. Mrs. Provorse was employed at onetime by the former Hubbard Heel Co., Eastern Footwear and Dalsans Footwear Co. all of Dolgeville. She was last employed by the former Daniel Green Co. Dolgeville retiring after 25 years of service. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Charles, her loving son Charles Peter Provorse, Dolgeville, a favorite niece and nephew Patricia and Charles Fisher, Connecticut and several other nieces and nephews, her loving and close friends Dennis and Cathy Winkler and their children, Salisbury. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Edward and Oscar Sarpen and by a sister Hilda Provorse. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 10:00 am from the United Lutheran Presbyterian Church, 26 E. Faville Ave. Dolgeville with the Rev. James Paulson Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no public calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Provorse be considered to the United Lutheran Presbyterian, Church, 26 E. Faville Ave, Dolgeville, NY 13329. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
