Obituary of Jean E. Reardon

LITTLE FALLS - Jean E. Reardon, 76 wife of former Herkimer County Legislator Patrick A. Reardon a long time resident of 266 Loomis Street and more recent of the 637 John St. (Academy Apt.# 202), Little Falls passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Residential Healthcare Facility at Little Falls Hospital where she had been a resident since December 9, 2003. She was born on July 6, 1928 in Utica the daughter of the late Gerald and Marion (Cogovan) Roach. She was educated at St. Frances de Sales School, Herkimer and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1946. She was united in marriage to her husband and best friend of 57 years Patrick A. Reardon on October 18, 1947 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Mrs. Reardon was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. As well as a member of the Little Falls Homemakers Home Bureau. She was employed at two different times by the Little Falls Central School District, first in the cafeteria and later as a Library Aide serving in that capacity for several years. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she enjoyed her family, as well as traveling with her motor home, camping and just being outdoors. She also enjoyed the years spent wintering with her husband in Florida. She is survived by her beloved husband Patrick, 2 son Shawn P. Reardon, and Patrick D. Reardon and his wife Lisa, both of Little Falls, 3 daughters Maureen Petkovsek, Little Falls, Shelia Reardon Gilman and her husband Jeffrey, Hamilton, NY and Abby Kosty and her husband Michael, Vestal, NY, a brother Donald Roach and his wife Erika, Florida, 2 sisters Shirley Gilfus, Clinton, NY and Marilyn Cary, Utica, 2 sisters in law Theresa Roach and Joan Roach, 10 grandchildren Lynda Petkovsek, Luke Petkovsek, Megan Jean Blenis, Abigail Riley, Bridget K. Riley, Shelby, L. Reardon, Sara E. Reardon, Patrick E. Reardon, Rachael E. Kosty, and Michael Patrick Kosty,3 great grandchildren Samantha Petkovsek, Claire Petkovsek and Emma Jean Blenis and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sons Daniel T. Reardon, who died on August 8, 1961 and Donald F. Reardon, who died on July 21, 1999, 2 brothers Gerald and John Roach and by a son in law Allen D. Petkovsek, who died on January 18, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St's, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Vail. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Reardon be considered to the American Diabetes Association, 1508 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dale Adamson and the entire staff of the Residential Healthcare Facility.
