Obituary of Richard E. Handy

TOWN OF MINDEN- Richard E. Handy, 74 of 129 Crews Drive, Ft. Plain passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his residence. He was born on August 21, 1937 in the town of Manheim, the son of the late Herman and Ethel (Frederick) Handy. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School class of 1953. Mr. Handy proudly served his country enlisting with the 101st airborne US reserve. He was united in marriage to his wife of 50 years the former Doris I. Hogan on January 20, 1962. He was employed by Burrows Paper Corp., Little Falls and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Handy is survived by his wife Doris I. Handy, 2 sons Richard M. Handy and is wife Bonnie with whom he resided, Jeremy Handy and his girl friend Kalley, 2 daughters Susan M. Handy, Canajoharie, Judy Handy Lyons, Ft. Plain, 10 grandchildren Scott, Matthew and Tyler Lamphere, Brandon Handy, Kayla Semple, Erika Lyons, Alexandra Handy, Meghan and Paige Lee, Brock Herringshaw, 3 great grandchildren Rebekah, Alysah Semple and Brennen Lamphere and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Herman W. Handy and 2 sisters Eleanor H. Schuyler and Marian E. Handy. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Freysbush with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls.
