Obituary of Robert E. Graudons

LITTLE FALLS - Robert E. Graudons, 89, of E. Monroe Street, Little Falls and since February of 2010 a resident of the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at that residence. He was born on November 25, 1923 in Little Falls, the son of the late Ferdinand and Sophie (Schmidt) Graudons. He was a graduate of Little Fall High School where he played varsity basketball. He also received an associates degree from Utica College. Bob was united in marriage to former Olga Valuck, his wife of 56 years, on August 2, 1947 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls with the Rev. George Billy officiating. His beloved wife, Olga, predeceased him on August 9, 2003. A veteran of World War II. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Entering the service on September 22, 1942 he served aboard the destroyer, USS Macomb. He was honorably discharged as a Yeoman First Class on April 16, 1946. He was employed by the Salada Corporation, Little Falls, and Beech-Nut Life Savers, Canajoharie. He served as president of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Council and president of the Little Falls High School Board of Education. He was an avid sports fan devoted to the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Syracuse University basketball. Bob is survived by his two beloved daughters, Nancy Young and her husband Bruce, Phillipsburg, NJ and Deborah Fitzgerald, Reedville, VA, two cherished grandchildren Robert and Katrina Young and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Alfred, William and Henry Graudons and by his sisters Martha Hessler, Leda Failing and Elizabeth Schumacher. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Jon A. Noble, officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery later in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 11 am - 1 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Bob be considered to the City of Little Falls Fire Dept. Ambulance, 659 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
