Obituary of Robert J. Buehler

LITTLE FALLS - Robert J. Buehler, 85 of Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 2, 2006 in Melbourne, Florida where he and his wife Betty wintered. He was born on July 19, 1921 in Utica the son of the late Robert Buehler and Helen (Cutler) Buehler Batley. He was a graduate of the Utica Free Academy, class of 1939 as well as a Oswego State University, class of 1946 as well as receiving his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Columbia University. He was united in marriage to his wife of 59 years the former Betty Vrooman on August 10, 1947 at the Paines Hollow Methodist Church. Mr. Buehler was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army Air Corps .Entering the service on July 18, 1942 in at Ft. Dix, NJ. He served with the 556th Arm Air Force Unit at Mitchell Field, NY. He was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant on January 10, 1946. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls. He was also a member and past president of the Little Falls Rotary Club where he was involved in many of the clubs projects. Mr. Buehler was employed as the director of the Physical Plant and Plant Planning for St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY from 1965 until his retirement in 1983. Prior to that he was the Assistant Superintendent of the Suffern, NY school system. He is survived by his wife Betty, 2 daughters Linda B. Vincent and her husband Alan, Little Falls and Pamela B. Martin and her husband Dean, Saranac Lake, NY, a sister Betty Ann Roberts, Del Ray Beach, FL, 3 grandchildren Todd R. Vincent and his wife Christy, Little Falls, Maxwell A. Martin , Potsdam and Nicole A. Martin, Saranac Lake. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 12:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Jon A. Noble, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 11 am - 12 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Buehler be considered to the Mohawk Valley Chapter of the Red Cross, 235 N. Prospect St., Herkimer, NY 13350 or to the Rotary Foundation Polio Plus Fund, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
