Obituary of Robert E. Walrath

LITTLE FALLS Robert E. Walrath, 94 of Little Falls passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Bassett Medial Center, Cooperstown with his family at his side over the past several weeks. He was born on October 3, 1918 in Herkimer the son of the late Lester and Ora (Harter) Walrath. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1936. Mr. Walrath was united in marriage to his beloved wife of 46 years the former Constance J. Hamilton on February 22, 1966 in El Paso, TX. He was a proud veteran of the World War II serving with the US Navy. Entering the service on February 23, 1944. He was honorably discharged as a Signalman Second Class on January 18, 1946 at Bremerton Wash. A member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, Salisbury Center. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and later fishing, gardening and horseshoe playing. He and Connie also enjoyed taking sea cruises, visiting many places around the world. Mr. Walrath was the owner and operator of Walraths Exxon Service Station on the Half Way House Curve, Little Falls for over 30 years, where he serviced cars, sold used cars and made many life long friendships. He is survived by his wife Constance, his son Robert A. (Ann Marie) Walrath, Little Falls, his daughters Kathleen (David) Feeter, Brockport, NY, Donna (David) Vaughan, Herkimer, Candance (Dayton) Leon, Herkimer and Vicki Van Slyke and her companion Dean Holdridge, Richfield Springs and many grand and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Walrath in 2003 and by his step son Keith Darling in 2002. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
