Obituary of Clifford E. Rockwell

LITTLE FALLS - Clifford E. Rockwell, 88 of 163 Rockwell Road, Little Falls passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital where he a been a patient since July 22, 2005. He was born on May 5, 1917 in Little Falls the son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Kraft) Rockwell. He was educated in area rural schools. He was united in marriage to the former Charlotte A. Kast on August 15, 1942 at the United Methodist Church parsonage, Herkimer. Mrs. Rockwell predeceased him on November 15, 1978. He was a member of the West Canada Creek Assn.. As well as a former member of the Herkimer Odd Fellows Lodge, IOOF, the former Shell Bush Grange and the Eastern Milk Producers Assn. He was also a avid deer and coon hunter. Mr. Rockwell was the owner and operator of Maple - Hurst Farms, Little Falls. He was also, employed as a snowplow driver for the Town of Little Falls retiring from that position in 1980 but continued to operator the farm for several more years. He is survived by his 4 daughters Ada L. Gorinshek and her husband John, Fairfield, Gail C. Gross and her husband Warren, Middleville, Betty A. Lanphere and her husband Kale, Fairfield and Marie E. Florian and her husband Buck, Fairfield, a son Wayne R. Rockwell and his wife Sheila, Herkimer, 14 grandchildren John & David Gorinshek, Daniel, Charlene and Clifford Andrew Gross, Kale Lanphere, Jr. and Kathy Smith, Bucky Florian, Karie Florian, Josh and Kelly Rockwell, Debra Tibbitts, Jamie and Amanda Rockwell, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his neighbors Dean Morey and James Tibbitts and his canine friend Wrinkles. He was predeceased by a son Clifford L. Rockwell, who died on May 5, 1988, a grandson Rex Florian, who died in 1971 and by 2 brothers Elwyn Rockwell, who died in 2002 and Kenneth Rockwell, who died o December 9, 2004. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Donald L. Dixon, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, July 29, 2005 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Rockwell be considered to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13507. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
