Obituary of Sophia B. (Sophie) Mosher
LITTLE FALLS - Sophia B. (Sophie) Mosher, 86 of 3696 State Route 167, Little Falls passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 23, 1921 in Starkville the daughter of the late Boleslaw and Mary (Franciak) Bednarski. She was educated in Starkville Rural and Little Falls Schools.
She was united in marriage to her husband of 61 years Leonard O. (Duke) Mosher on April 5, 1947 in Van Hornesville.
Mrs. Mosher was employed at onetime by the Remington Arms Co., Ilion and for many years by the former Allegro Shoe Corp., Little Falls along with assisting her husband in the operation of the family dairy farm in Van Hornesville. She was last employed as an inspector for the former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville retiring in 1993.
She was an avid card player and over the years belong to several bowling leagues. She was also a member of the Charlie Wooster Club during the Little Falls Bicentennial Celebration.
She is survived by her husband Leonard (Duke), 5 sons Barry Haggerty, Little Falls, Richard B. Mosher and his wife Mary, Indian Castle, Leonard Mosher, Little Falls, Timothy Mosher and his wife Jill, Little Falls and Dayton Mosher and his wife Felicia, Newville, 2 daughters Laurie Florian and her companion JR Kimbrell, Little Falls and Christy Corso and her companion William Smith, Oppenheim, a sister Wanda Keba, St. Johnsville, 14 grandchildren Cara Mosher and her companion Anthony Boepple, Alecia Sohns and her husband Matthew, Amy Mosher, Brian Mosher, Shelley LaPorta and her husband Corey, Stacey Palmer and her husband Donald, Scott Florian, Traci Gardinier and her husband John, Trisha Mosher, Teresa Mosher and her fiancé© Justin Battisti, Jessica Mosher, Anthony Corso, Brittany Corso and Donald (DJ) Jasewicz, 6 great grandchildren Anthony LaPorta, Adrianna Sohns, Madison Battisti, Kiaira Florian, Savannah Florian and Sean Gardinier, several nieces and nephews, her sister in law Jennie Bednarski, Little Falls and her special friend and Sunday rummy partner Leonard Pross, Indian Castle. She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Mosher, on October 21, 1948, her twin brother Zigmund Bednarski in 1997 and 2 sisters Kaye Madison in 1985 and Lodjia Graudons in 2007.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with her niece the Rev. Theresa Grescheck, Pastor of the Paines Hollow United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in the Ostrander Cemetery, Town of Danube at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2008 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Mosher be considered to the Hospice Care Inc. 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice, Little Falls Hospital and the ICU and Dr.s Liu, Sharma and Haas for their kindness, care and compassion shown to Mrs. Mosher and her family.
