Obituary of Leland Stack

LITTLE FALLS - HERKIMER- Leland Stack, 86 a long time Little Falls resident and for the past seven years of 435 N. Bellinger St., Herkimer passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since June of 2006. He was born on June 1, 1920 in Little Falls the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Donnelly) Stack. He was educated at St. Mary's Academy, Little Falls. He was united in marriage to the former Kristina Sadlon on March 7, 1944 in Virginia. Mr. Stack was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. Entering the service on May 26, 1942 in Utica. He served with Company H, 306th Infantry in central Europe and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on January 21, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ. Prior to moving to Herkimer and becoming a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, he was a long time member of St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. He was a life member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612 VFW, Little Falls as well as a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Stack was employed for 26 years as a stock clerk for the former UNIVAC Corp., Utica, retiring in January of 1976. He is survived by his wife Kristina, a daughter Susan Lee Stack, Louisville, Kentucky, 2 brothers Bernard Stack and his wife Margaret, Vernon and Thomas Stack and his wife Mary, Little Falls, 2 sisters in law Susan Murphy and Margaret Sadlon, both of Little Falls and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Jeanne Marineau, who died in 1994. In keeping with Mr. Stack's wishes cremation will take place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial mass to be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. of Main & Johns St's, Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Stack be considered to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center, doctors and staff for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Mr. Stack and his family.
