Obituary of Steve (Tabby) Mizerak

LITTLE FALLS - Steve (Tabby) Mizerak, 87 of 351 W. Main Street, Little Falls passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where he had been a resident for the past week. He was born on September 28, 1919 in Little Falls the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Mocko) Mizerak. He received his education a Little Falls High School. Mr. Mizerak was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army Air Forces. Entering the service on July 27, 1942 in Utica. He served with the 765th Army Air Forces Band in Florence, Italy. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on January 28, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ. While training for the service he was stationed in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he meet and married the former Ruby P. Wagner on October 5, 1944. She predeceased him on February 17, 1973. On November 27, 1974 he was united in marriage to the former Mabel Kimball Tinkler at the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mr. Mizerak was a well known bass player for the Mohicians dance band, an avid fan of big band - swing music, he played for various other valley bands over the years. As well as for his church ensemble. He was employed for 24 years by the former UNIVAC Corp., Utica, retiring in 1983 from the quality control dept. Following his retirement he enjoyed traveling a crossed the United States and spent several winters in Bradenton, FL and Tempe, AZ. he is survived by his wife Mabel, his daughter Brenda Hatch and her husband William, Corning, NY, 5 grandchildren David Hatch, Etters, PA, Glenn Hatch and his wife Kim, Justin, Jason and Jennifer Hatch all of Corning, NY, 5 great grandchildren Kezia and Easia Hatch, and Malachi, Kristen, and Joshua Carson. He was predeceased by 3 brothers Paul Mizerak in 1943, Michael Mizerak, 1980 and Rudolph Mizerak, 2001. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 1:30 pm from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Evans, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls on Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services Friday afternoon. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Mizerak be considered to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
