Obituary of Charlotte G. Thompson

Charlotte G. Thompson DOLGEVILLE - Charlotte G. Thompson, 84 of 12 ½ W. Faville Ave., Dolgeville and since January of 2006 a resident of the Residential Healthcare Facility at Little Falls Hospital passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006 at that residence. She born on February 19, 1922 in Dolgeville the daughter of the late Edwin D. and Veda (Tanner) Gow. A life long resident of Dolgeville, she was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1940 as well a Graduate of Cobleskill University, Class of 1942. Mrs. Thompson was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy (WAVES) Nursing Corps. She entered the service in 1943 and was stationed a the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. She was honorably discharged in 1946. She was a member of the Dolgeville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thompson was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid Yankees fan and found much enjoyment as she embraced modern technology keeping in contact with friends and family by e-mail and was extremely fond of her feline companion Kat. She was employed from 1961 to 1997 as the switchboard operator for the former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville. She is survived by her son William E. Thompson, Baldwinsville, NY, 2 daughters Susan Hart and her husband Edward and Judith Yanney and her husband David all of Dolgeville, 5 grandchildren Kimberly Lincourt, Dolgeville, Kelly Lincourt, Utica, Ryan Hart, Dolgeville, Jennifer Sue Guile and her fiancé© Shane Crews, Little Falls and Michael Yanney, Dolgeville, 5 great grandchildren Seth, Kirsten, Brianna, Cole and Tyler, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother David Gow and by a dear cousin Jane Murray. Graveside memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville with the Rev. Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Herkimer-Little Falls officiating. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Thompson be considered to the Charlotte G. Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Dolgeville Central School, Slawson St., Dolgeville, NY 13329. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
