Obituary of Gladys I. Thornton

Gladys I. Thornton MOHAWK - Gladys I. Thornton, 91 formerly of Oregon Road, Mohawk and more recent of the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 at that residence. She was born on December 4, 1914 in Ceres, PA the daughter of the late Emmitt and Lenna (Vandermark) Pangburn. She was a graduate of Richburg Central School, Richburg, NY class of 1936. She was united in marriage to her husband of 61 years Elbert A. Thornton on June 26, 1936 at the Richburg Baptist Church parsonage. Mr. Thornton predeceased her on July 21, 1997. She is survived by 2 sons Clair Thornton and his wife Margaret, Mohawk and Allen Thornton and his wife Mary Ann, Frankfort, 4 daughters Patricia Taylor and her husband Joseph, N. Carolina, Lenna Burritt and her husband Kenneth, Oneonta, Gloria Wiseburn and her husband George, Ilion and Georgia Nelson, Claremont, NC, a sister Arrillia Mascho, Richburg, NY, 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Elberta Stever, who died on October 20, 2005, 2 sons in law Bernard Stever and Wes Nelson and by 6 brothers Noel, Nute, Paul, Calvin, Milton and Edward Pangburn and 2 sisters Leola Sharp and Naomi Jean Pangburn. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Obi Cemetery, Obi, NY Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY.
