Obituary of Ruth E. VanGorder

Ruth E. VanGorder LITTLE FALLS - Ruth E. VanGorder, 92 formerly of Falls Courts Apt.'s, Little Falls and since February of 2004 a resident of the residential Healthcare Facility at Little Falls Hospital passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at that residence. She was born on November 1, 1913 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth (Stahl) Silvernail. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. She was united in marriage to her husband of 42 years Luke C. VanGorder, Sr. on November 2, 1931 at the First Baptist Church parsonage, Little Falls. Mr. VanGorder predeceased her on January 26, 1973. She was a member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. AS well as a member of the Cathetackne Grange # 1586, Little Falls, Pomona and NYS Granges where she held all of the chairs of each organization at onetime. Mrs. VanGorder was employed for 35 years as an Inspector for the former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville. She is survived by her son Luke C. VanGorder, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, Little Falls, 4 grandchildren Sherrie Lyon and her husband Michael, Dolgeville, Diane Hicks and her husband Jamie, Madison, NY, Luke VanGorder, III and Allen VanGorder both of Little Falls., 7 great grandchildren Bethany, Shane and Evan Lyon, Scott Nagle, Thomas, Tiffany and Tasha Hicks and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Mary Elizabeth VanGorder, who died in 1932 and by 2 brothers Albert L. Silvernail, who died on December 26, 1984 and Ira (Frank) Silvernail, who died on March 16, 1994. Graveside services will be held at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.
