Obituary of Victor P. Valis
LITTLE FALLS- Victor P. Valis. 84 of 615 Sandy Lane Road, Mohawk passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.
He was born on June 29, 1926 in Shaulay, Lithuania the son of the late Philip and Julijona Paliulis Valis (Greitaitis). He was educated in Lithuania where he graduated from high school. He then went to trade school to learn to be a electrician. After trade school he went to Germany and worked as a electrician for the US Army. He then immigrated to the United States in 1949.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 55 years the former Selma Hajeris on September 23, 1955 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dolgeville.
Mr. Valis was employed at onetime as the manager of the former Petrello Dry Cleaners, Little Falls and in the same capacity by the former Green Sleet Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Ft. Plain from where he retired.
He is survived by his wife Selma, four sisters in law Martha Alguire, Mohawk, Olga Snell (Ted) Bullhead, AZ, Jane Hajeris, Frankfort and Maryann Hajeris, Utica, his godson Richard Hajeris, Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Johnson, his brothers in law Richard, Edwin, Walter and Gerhard Hajeris and sisters in law Zina Brown and Alma Dickson
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Karen Caspersen officiating. Interment will follow in Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville.
