Obituary of Wardne L. Kuyrkendal

LITTLE FALLS- Wardne L. Kuyrkendall, 99 of 8025 State Route 5, Little Falls passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Inc., St. Johnsville. He was born on March 27, 1913 in Champaign, IL, the son of the late Hiram and Rachel (Rumer) Kuyrkendall. He attended the Champaign schools. On February 20, 1980 he was united in marriage to his wife the former Bertha B. (Shaffer) Campbell, in LaJolla, CA. Mrs. Kuyrkendall predeceased him on August 4, 2001. Mr. Kuyrkendalls first job was a truck driver for C and M Forwarding Unit, transporting new Packards. He then was employed at Cherry-Burrell Corp. and ran the family dairy farm. He also owned and operated W.L Kuyrkendall Heating and Plumbing and built Kuyrkendall Kourts Trailer Park. He also owned his own excavating and concrete business through the local area. He was a dealer for Patz equipment for 35 years and received several awards and was part owner of Kuyrkendall Trucking. Mr. Kuyrkendall was a very smart, honest and a very hard working man who always put his family and friends first. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. He instilled the value that if you want good neighbors you need to be a good neighbor. Mr. Kuyrkendall is survived by a son Wardne G. Kuyrkendall and his wife Barbara, Little Falls, a daughter Beverly Pettengill, Middleville, a sister Julia Anna Kuyrkendall, WA, 7 grandchildren Evan Kuyrkendall, Nathan Kuyrkendall, Nicholas Kuyrkendall, Trisha Kuyrkendall, Dedira Servello, Robert Pettengill, Cheryl Rice, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 12:00 pm (noon) from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Donald L. Dixon, Pastor Emeritus of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 11am-12 (noon) and to attend the funeral services that follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Kuyrkendall be considered to the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Inc., 7 Timmerman Ave., St. Johnsville, NY. 13452. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
