Obituary of Wesley E. Hoage

HERKIMER - Wesley E. Hoage, 84 of formerly Mohawk Street, Herkimer passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1926 in Frankfort the son of the late Richard H. and Mary C. (Danforth) Hoage, Sr.. He attended Mohawk High School and the University of Houston. In 1949 he relocated to Texas and return to the Mohawk Valley in 2006. He was united in marriage to the former Betty (Johnson) Neale of Herkimer, the former Robbie J. Wood of Texas, the former Helen D. Hranisky, who predeceased him in February 2004. On October 21, 2005 he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Raux at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Hoage was a veteran of the US Army serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He is a member of the American Legion Post # 10, Albany, Oregon and a life member of the Good Sam Club. Mr. Hoage was employed for 50 years as a long haul truck driver based out of Texas and Oregon. He retired from the road in 2002. He is survived by his wife Shirley, Burnt Hills, NY, a son Patrick Allen Jude Hoage, Arlington, TX, two daughters Linda Guile and her husband Harold, Dolgeville and Diane Sherman, Lacrose, Kansas, a brother Lewis D. Hoage and his wife Virginia, Cedarville, 2 sisters Mary Lenaghen and her husband John, Holland Patent and Gladys Aikens and her husband Leo, Utica and many grandchildren, great grand children, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard H. Hoage, Jr. in 1986 and on February 13, 1948 by 13 brothers and sisters who perished in a house fire in Utica. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Roger Waldron, Pastor of the Salisbury United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, TX, where he will be laid to rest with his wife Helen. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 9 11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow.
