Obituary of William J. Grose, Jr
LITTLE FALLS - William J. Grose, Jr. 60 of 326 Burrell Road, Little Falls passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford.
He was born on September 10, 1946 in Little Falls the son of Elizabeth (Sterusky) Grose, Little Falls and the late William J. Grose, Sr. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1965.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 40 years the former Joan M. Boepple on June 4, 1966 at St. Mary's Church, Little Falls by the Rev. Thomas Connery.
Mr. Grose was a veteran of the US Navy, entering the service on September 21, 1965. He was honorably discharged on September 19, 1969 from the Naval Air Station in Kingsville, TX.
He was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Little Falls. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, Dolgeville Co-Op, the Saturday Night Special Bowling League and various other leagues. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time at his camp on Piseco Lake at Bonnie Bray.
Mr. Grose was employed at onetime by Salada Foods Corp., Little Falls and later owned and operated Sunny Hill Dairy farm in Little Falls. He was later employed by the Mohawk Valley Paper Mill, Little Falls. He was presently employed by the St. Lawrence Explosives Corp., Adams Center, NY, now known as DynoNoble Explosives of Salt Lake City, UT, where he held blasting licenses in both New York State and Vermont.
He is survived by his mother Elizabeth S. Grose, Little Falls, his wife Joan, 3 daughters Monica Grose and her husband Daniel Powell, Springfield, VA, Vickie Atlas and her husband Kenneth, Harwinton, CT and Stephanie Smith and her husband Kristopher, Charlotte, NC, 5 grandchildren Jacob Powell, Katie Powell, Benjamin Atlas, Jillian Atlas and Tyler Smith, his brother Charles P. Grose and his wife Marie, Schuyler, his sister Betty Ann Nellis and her husband Richard, Herkimer, his mother in law Betty Jane Boepple, Daytona Beach, FL, 3 brothers in law Frank Boepple and his wife Ruth Ann, Little Falls, Lawrence Tanner, Little Falls and Edward Zimik, Caroga Lake, a special sister in law Judith Harter, Little Falls, sister in law Georgia Tucci and her husband Mark, Little Falls, 2 special cousins, Jean Fogarty, Little Falls and Connie Gregory, Garrettsville, NY and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father William, Sr., on August 29, 2004 and by his father in law George Boepple on August 8, 2000.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services Monday morning.
In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Grose be considered to the Siegenthaler Center, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
