Obituary of Jane S Feldmeier
LITTLE FALLS - Jane Stark Feldmeier, 63, of Little Falls, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, following a brief illness.
She was born on March 5, 1950 in Edenton, North Carolina, daughter of the late Agnes Ersula (Hunt) Feldmeier and Lt. Col. Allan Lloyd Feldmeier.
She was a graduate of Little Falls High School and St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn and attended Cornell University and Russell Sage College. Jane was a Sergeant in a U.S. Army Reserve hospital unit.
She lived for several years in New York City, where she was a Medical
Records Technician at Bellevue Hospital. She also worked for the New York State Department of Taxation. After returning to Little Falls, she was employed by the Savings Bank of Utica.
Jane was a generous, public-spirited person and was especially liked at the YMCA where she prepared holiday dinners for residents. She was a special friend to those who knew her well, and she enjoyed spending time with her nephew Isaac Ward Feldmeier. She was an expert on family history and was proud of her father’s (“the Colonel”) valor in World War II and of her Uncle Ted who was killed in action at Iwo Jima. She held her ideals close to her heart and never hesitated to let others know how she felt when those ideals were tested.
She is survived by two brothers, Harvey Feldmeier (Arlene), LTC U.S. Army, retired, of New York City, Edward Burrell Feldmeier (Joan), MSG U.S. Army retired, of Eliot, Maine; an additional nephew, CPT Robert Allan Feldmeier, US Army; and two nieces, Caroline Ruth Feldmeier and 1LT Elizabeth Feldmeier Vieyra, (Mark) US Army; an aunt and uncle, Peggy Lou and Robert H. Feldmeier; and many cousins and their families. She was a special friend of cousin Charles T. McKusick and his wife Ethel, Little Falls. Her brother, Richard Allan Feldmeier, pre-deceased her.
