Obituary of Paul E Jaquays
LITTLE FALLS – Paul E. Jaquays, 68 of O’Hara Road, Little Falls passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at Albany Medical Center, Albany.
He was born on February 9, 1946 in Little Falls, the son of the late Chancey Jaquays and Ruth H. (Curtiss) Darling. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School class of 1965, as well a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College with a degree in accounting. He also attended Herkimer County Community College.
Mr. Jaquays was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War, Entering the service on November 22, 1966 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1968.
He was united in marriage to his wife of 22 years the former Janet L. (Petelin) Welch on February 14, 1992 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls.
A member of the American Legion Post # 31, Little Falls and the Little Falls Polish Community Home where he served both organizations as their accountant for many years. He was also a member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612 VFW, Little Falls, and the Little Falls
German Mannechor and the Little Falls Elks Lodge # 42, B.P.O.E.
Mr. Jaquays began his working career with the US Postal Service as a Mail Deliverer in Little Falls, he later served as the Postal Clerk at the Little Falls Post office until his retirement. He was also well known in the area for his Income Tax preparation service that he preformed for numerous friends and neighbors for forty years.
He is survived by his wife Janet, his son; Branden Jaquays, Little Falls, his daughters; Jennifer DeCarlis (Michael), Marcy, NY and Bridget Jaquays (Christopher Deming), Whitesboro, NY, step sons; Lance Welch (Helena), Sterling, VA and Shawn Welch, Orlando, FL, brother; Terry L. Jaquays (Sandy), Lakewood, Wash., step brother; Scott Darling (Kim), Schenectady, NY, step sister; Vicki Van Slyke (Dean Holdridge), Richfield Springs, three grandchildren; Marissa DeCarlis, Alexis DeCarlis and Kahlan Welch, his niece; Amanda Jaquays (Daniel Seguin) and their daughter Kayla, Scotia, NY, nephews; Erikson Jaquays (Tonya), Florida and Nathan Jaquays, Scotia, NY, special cousins; Jo Ann Failing, Ft. Plain, NY and Donald Curtiss Edmunds, Little Falls and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers; Grant Jaquays and Keith Darling, and by his sister; Julie Mason Sea.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:30 am from the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 E. Albany Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365 on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 9-11 am and to attend the services at the church to follow.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Jaquays be considered to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 E. Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
