Obituary of Roy H Youker
DOLGEVILLE – Roy H. (Bud) Youker, 88 of Slawson Street, Dolgeville passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls where he had been a resident since April of 2014.
He was born on June 12, 1926 in Oppenheim, NY the son of the late Roy H. and Evangeline (Thompson) Youker, Sr. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School.
Mr. Youker was united in marriage to his wife of 68 years the former Naomi R. Youngblut on July 21, 1945 in Dolgeville. Mrs. Youker predeceased him on May 15, 2014.
A veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. He entered the service on August 14, 1945 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on November 25, 1946.
He was a charter member of the Dolgeville Area Vol. Ambulance Corps. (DAVAC) and the recipient of the Rotary Community Recognition Award. He was also a member of the Dolgeville Vol. Fire Dept. for over 30 years and served in numerous capacities including Captain for 5 years and the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge # 796 F&AM.
Mr. Youker was a self-employed general contractor in the area for many years and at one time was employed by the New York Central Railroad.
He is survived by his sister Harma Wagner, Dolgeville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
