Obituary of James D Herringshaw
TOWN OF DANUBE – James D. Herringshaw, 66 of 398 Paradise Road, Little Falls, NY passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on February 17, 1948 in Little Falls the son of Katherine (Adamek) Herringshaw of Little Falls and the late Frederick V. Herringshaw. He was a graduate of Little Falls High school class of 1968.
On August 19, 1967 he was united in marriage to his wife of 47 years the former Linda Spine at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls.
Mr. Herringshaw was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army. He entered the service on January 2, 1969 and was a Helicopter Crew Chief. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist Fifth Class on August 6, 1970.
He was a member of the Ilion Elk’s Lodge # 1444 as well as a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post # 31. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending as much time as he could in the woods and with his family.
Mr. Herringshaw was employed for 25 years as a machinist for the Remington Arms Co., Ilion. Retiring several years ago due to ill health.
He is survived by his mother; Katherine Herringshaw, Little Falls, his wife; Linda, Little Falls, his sons; James Herringshaw and his girlfriend Jen Leskovar, Little Falls and Jason Herringshaw and his girlfriend Kaleigh Steves, Mohawk, his daughter; Melissa Peruzzi and her boyfriend Randy Phillips, Little Falls, his brother and sister in law; Frederick P. and Marylee Herringshaw, Little Falls and his sister and brother in law; Katherine and OJ Congdon, Johnstown, his grandchildren; Hayley and Mekenna Peruzzi, Kaitlyn and Nathan Herringshaw and Emily Leskovar, a great granddaughter; Ella Leskovar, his best friend; Robert Harvey and his wife Naomi, Mohawk, Sister in law and her husband; Gail and M. Douglas Krumpholz, Georgia and Brother in law and his wife; Bernard and Marcia Spine, Richmond, VT., several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; Jay Herringshaw on July 24, 2014.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Joseph Famulare officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the service.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 9-11 am and to attend the services to follow.
