Obituary of Joseph C Burroughs

LITTLE FALLS - Joseph C. Burroughs, 43 of 89 Burwell Street, Little Falls passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where he had been a resident since December of 2014. He was born on January 3, 1972 in Little Falls the son of the late Carolyn (Windecker) Manno. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1992 and of Herkimer County BOCES. Joe was an skilled basketball player for the Herkimer ARC, Special Olympics basketball team competing in local and state championships. An avid ‘Star Trek” fan he also enjoyed following the Chicago Bears and the NY Mets taking several trips to Shea Stadium for their games. He also enjoyed going to concerts by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and spending time with his family and many friends who always made him smile. He was employed at onetime by the former Van Allen Nursing Home, Little Falls and was last employed for several years in the Housekeeping and Maintenance Department of Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Joe is survived by his maternal grandparents; Russell and Kathleen Windecker, Little Falls, his paternal grandfather; Richard Burroughs, Mohawk, his brother; Michael Burroughs and his wife Toni, Little Falls and his sister; Jeanette Reinhardt, Delhi, NY, his niece; Gina Reinhardt and nephew; Benjamin Reinhardt. He as predeceased by his mother; Carolyn Manno on May 17, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 12:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Chris Wintermute, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 11am to 12 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Joe be considered to the Herkimer ARC “Special Olympics” Fund, PO Box 271, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
