Obituary of Josephine H Sadlon
LITTLE FALLS – Josephine H. Sadlon completed her life on earth on March 18, 2015, and now lives forever in the hearts and memories of those who love her.
Josephine was born on July 16, 1928 in Herkimer, NY to the late Adolph and Natalie Bajda. She was educated in the Herkimer school system, graduating with the class of 1946.
On August 12, 1950 she married Stephen W. Sadlon in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Herkimer, with the Rev. Vincent Novak officiating.
Josephine worked for the National Automotive Fibers Co, Little Falls until it’s closing, then the UNIVAC Corp., Utica for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, going to the library, playing cards and cooking, as well as spending time with the family at their camp at Caroga Lake. Josephine loved hosting “camp parties” for friends and relatives over the last 50 years of having the camp. For 25 years Jo and Steve were “snowbirds” to Florida, spending four months a year on the east Florida coast. She looked forward to seeing her winter friends yearly.
She was a member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Little Falls for many years.
Josephine is survived by her husband Stephen Sadlon, daughter Kathy Sadlon, Attica, NY and several nephews, especially Rich Sadlon, Cazenovia, NY and Ron Sadlon, Mohawk, NY and cousins, as well as the family dog, Magic. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Jo Sadlon Lees, a granddaughter Jodi Michele, her sisters Phyllis and Mary, and brother Frank.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:00 am from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 512 E. Gansevoort Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Joseph Famulare, officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls later in the spring.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2-5 pm and to attend the funeral services on Monday morning.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Josephine be considered to the Little Falls Public Library, 10 Waverly Place, Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
The family would like to thank the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care of Josephine on several occasions and to Pastor Joe Famulare for his comfort and masses at the nursing home.
