Obituary of Patrick A Reardon

LITTLE FALLS _ Patrick A. Reardon, 89 formerly of 266 Loomis St., and Falls Courts Apt.’s Little Falls passed away Saturday evening May 2, 2015 at the Alpine Nursing and Rehab. Center, Little Falls. He was born on August 9, 1925 in Little Falls the son of the late Daniel V. and Catherine (Gorman) Reardon. He was educated at St. Mary’s Academy, Little Falls. A veteran of World War II serving with the US Army. He entered the service on May 25, 1943 in Albany, NY. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on February 6, 1946 at Ft. Dix, NJ. On October 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to his wife of 57 years the former Jean E. Roach at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Mrs. Reardon predeceased him on March 29, 2005. Mr. Reardon was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls. A well-known civic leader, he served as an Alderman for the City of Little Falls from 1964-1970, he was then elected to the Herkimer County Legislature serving from 1972-1994 and served as the Democratic Minority Leader and was known for tirelessly working for his constituents. He also was the Past President of the NYS Legislator and Supervisors Assn. and a founder of the former Little Falls Democratic Club. He was employed for 37 years as a serviceman for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., in both Little Falls and Herkimer. Retiring in 1984. Following his retirement he and his wife Jean enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and traveling with their motorhome, camping, enjoying the outdoors and spending with family. He is survived by his son; Patrick D. Reardon and his wife Lisa, Little Falls, his daughters; Maureen Petkovsek, Little Falls, Sheila Reardon Gilman and her husband Jeffrey, Hamilton, NY and Abby Kosty, Vestal, NY, his daughter in law; Mary Reardon, Dolgeville, his grandchildren Lynda Petkovsek, Luke Petkovsek, Megan Jean Blenis, Abigail Riley, Bridget K. Lamp, Shelby L. Reardon, Sara E. Reardon, Patrick E. Reardon, Rachel E. Kosty and Michael Kosty, great grandchildren Samantha Petkovsek, Claire Petkovsek, Emma Jean Blenis, Gabe Blenis, Eva Blenis and Genevieve Lamp and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sons; Daniel Reardon in 1961, Donald F. Reardon on July 21, 1999 and Shawn P. Reardon on August 3, 2009 and by his son in law’s; Allen Petkovsek on January 18, 2004 and Michael Kosty on March 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. of Main & John St.’s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Terrance Healy. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services on Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Reardon be considered to the Alpine Nursing & Rehab. Center, 755 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
