Obituary of Arthur C Darling, Sr.

STRATFORD – Arthur C. Darling, Sr., 69 of 511 Mallett Hill Road, Stratford, NY passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. He was born on June 18, 1945 in Little Falls, NY the son of the late Howard and Virginia (Rice) Darling, Sr. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School class of 1963. On June 26, 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Karen A. Kurto at St. Joseph’s Church, Dolgeville. Mr. Darling began his working career as a logger, working alongside his brothers at the Darling Logging Co. in Salisbury until 1988 when he found his true passion as a truck driver for the Green Island Construction Co., Glenmont, NY where he remained until 2002. From 2002 until his retirement in 2015 he continued as a truck driver for the Rifenburg Construction Co., Troy, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Spending time with family and friends at camp was one of his favorite things to do. He is survived by his wife; Karen, his sons; Arthur C. Darling, Jr. and his wife Candace, Dolgeville, Richard J. Darling and his fiancée Alyssa, East Berne, NY and by his daughter; Kristine M. Barth and her husband Kenneth, Guilderland, NY, his step daughter; Heather Whittman, Stratford, his brothers; Howard Darling, Jr., David Darling and his wife Betty and Robert Darling and his wife Harlene, all of Salisbury Center, his grandchildren; Karly Hastings, Kaelyn Barth and was anticipating the upcoming birth of a granddaughter in July to Richard and Alyssa and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Terry Darling in 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services on Wednesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Darling be considered to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
