Obituary of Bruce Petkovsek, Sr.

SALISBURY – Brayton Bruce Petkovsek, Sr., 66 of State Route 170-A, Town of Salisbury passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford. He was born on February 9, 1949 in Little Falls, NY the son of the late Frank and Stella (Nalaskowski) Petkovsek. He was educated in Dolgeville schools. On October 6, 2001 he was united in marriage to the former Betty A. Brooks in the Town of Salisbury. He was a member of the Salisbury Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, The Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the 4-H Club. Bruce for many years helped his parents in the operation of the family dairy farm. He later went to work for Eastern Rock Co., which later became Hanson and held various construction positions in the area. He was a skilled snowmobile mechanic and worked many winters at Frederick's Arctic Cat dealership. He was last employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Herkimer County Highway Dept., retiring in 2012. He is survived by his wife; Betty, his sons; Brayton Bruce Petkovsek, Jr., Salisbury and Michael Petkovsek (Spaz) and his wife Debbie, Little Falls, his daughter; Sherrie Petkovsek and her companion Jeff Todd Salisbury, his brother; David Petkovsek and his wife Ruth, Little Falls, his sister; Carol Robinson and her husband Gordon, Fairfield, his grandchildren Andrew, Nathan, Codey, Erica and Corey and his sisters in law. He was predeceased by his brothers; Frank Petkovsek, III in 2000 and Edward Petkovsek in 2004. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. Interment will take place in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Town of Salisbury. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services on Wednesday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Bruce be considered to the S&S Ambulance Corps., 75 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville, NY 13329 or to the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 65, Salisbury Center, NY 13454. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
