Obituary of Charles W Haughton

LITTLE FALLS – Charles W. Haughton, 87 of 430 Inghams Mills Road, Little Falls, NY passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where he has been a resident since January 2015. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Dolgeville, NY the son of the late Palmer G. and Mary (Beekman) Haughton. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1946. On May 7, 1949 he was united in marriage to his wife of 66 years the former Esther Tibbitts at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. With his strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls, having served at one time as a deacon of the church. An accomplished vocalist he was also a member of the church choir and was a former member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church Gospel Quartet. He was a member and chaplain of the Mohawk Valley Camp of Gideon’s International and co-founder of the Mohawk Valley Evangelistic Association and avid hunter and fisherman as well as a former 4-H Club leader. Mr. Haughton began his working career on the family dairy farm with his parents and brothers. He was later employed for 35 years by the NYABC and Eastern as an AI Technician. Following his retirement from Eastern he was employed for several years as a wood worker by the former Revival Industries, Herkimer. He is survived by his wife Esther, his son; Mark Haughton, Fulton, NY, his daughters; Cheryl E. Seifried, Dolgeville and Suzanne L. Haughton and her husband Larry Burris, Charlotte, NC, his brother; Donald T. Haughton, Little Falls, five grandchildren; Tricia Seifried, Nathaniel Seifried and his wife Ashley, Mary Farrands and her husband Billy, Matthew Haughton and his wife Ashley and Keith Haughton and his wife Katie, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother; Allan P. Haughton, and his brothers in law; Morton and Donald Tibbitts, his sisters in law; Jeanette Wilbur and Marie Haughton and his son in law; Allen Seifried. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 12:00 pm from the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Donald L. Dixon, Pastor Emeritus and the Rev. Christopher Wintermute officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Haughton be considered to the first Baptist Church, 555 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to Gideon’s International, PO Box140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
