Obituary of Louis H Schmidt

SALISBURY - Louis H. Schmidt, 72 of Deltona, Florida formerly of the Town of Salisbury, NY passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 21, 2015 at Florida Hospital, Orlando, FL. He was born on December 24, 1942 in Little Falls, NY the son of the late Louis H. and Helen (Paatz) Schmidt, Sr. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School as well as a graduate of Herkimer County Community College and Syracuse University. A veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army. He entered the service on March 1, 1962 in Syracuse and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1968. Mr. Schmidt was the former owner and operator of Dr. Schmidt’s Incredible Car Cures, located on State Route 29 in the Town of Salisbury, NY. He also taught Automotive Technology at Herkimer County Community College for several years. He later relocated to Longwood, Florida and began operating Exclusive Imports. After selling that business he built his current garage in Deltona, FL operating Central Florida Trikes, building custom motorcycle trikes and was a member of the Brothers of the Third Wheel. He is survived by his daughter Heidi Schmidt, Little Falls, his many family members and friends, especially his best friend Jack Vaniseghem who was the brother he never had and his wife Linda. Also Mike Evans and David Perkins who were very dear friends. He was predeceased by his sister Adelia Schmidt. He is also survived by his many beloved cats who were his fur babies especially Mellow. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 4:30 pm at Dopp's Inn, 166 S. Main Street, Dolgeville, NY. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N.
