Obituary of Albert H Walroth

LITTLE FALLS – Albert H. Walroth, 87 of 550 E. John St., (Rockton Plaza) Apt.# 7C, Little Falls, NY and formerly of State Route 5S, Town of Danube, NY passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, NY. He was born on May 13, 1928 in the Town of Salisbury, NY the son of the late Jesse and Lula (Sweet) Walroth. He was educated in Salisbury Rural Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 63 years the former Edith Warn on June 21, 1952 at the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Mr. Walroth was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. Entering the service on November 7, 1948 and was stationed in both Korea and Japan. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on May 27, 1952 at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 31, Little Falls and the Mohawk Valley Post # 3275, VFW, Fort Plain, NY. An avid hunter and fisherman he also enjoyed participating in Horse Riding, Motorcycle and Muzzle Loading Clubs with his daughters and grandchildren. Mr. Walroth began his working career on the family dairy farm in the Town of Danube, he later worked as a Logger for several years and then enlisted in the US Army. Following his discharge from the service he was employed by the Burrows Paper Co., for several years and later as a Machinist for the former Allegro Shoe Co., Little Falls. He was last employed in that same capacity for ten years by the former LaSalle Laboratories, Little Falls. He is survived by his wife; Edith J., Little Falls, his daughters; Kathleen Kelly and her husband Bryant, Little Falls and Cynthia Urdang and her husband Thomas, Dolgeville, his sisters; June Clark and her husband James, Dolgeville, Esther Williams, Dolgeville, Betty Foster, Salisbury, Virginia Looman and her husband August, Johnstown and Deborah Randall, Dolgeville, four grandchildren; Ryan Sheldon (Michele), Heather Hummel, Hillary Kelly and Jessie Potter all of Little Falls. eight great grandchildren; Jackson Hummel, Lily Hummel, Emily Sheldon, Maggie Sheldon, James Stephens, Riley Stephens, Finnegan Potter and Callahan Potter, many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by an infant daughter; Julie Ann Walroth, his brother; David Walrath and by his sisters; Kathy Warner and Violet Williams. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Christopher Wintermute, Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills where Military Honors will be accorded. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 9-11 am and to attend the service to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Walroth be considered to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Doctors and Nursing staff at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for their care and compassion shown to Mr. Walroth and his family.
